Something to think about

I remember in high school we had to study the Delcaration of Independence and the Constitution. I wonder how many kids today are required to do so? If they did, and they used their minds for what they were designed for they would realize that our government today is not the same government that was envisioned by our fore-fathers.

Therefore it is with that thought in mind that I present for your consideration a portion of the opening of the Declaration of Independence. Think about what it says and the implications and then compare the situation we are in now with our government not listening to the demands of the people it represents.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

The Goal of my new blog

Well, well, well, what have I done by creating this blog? I hope to stimulate, to educate and to motivate people about things that affect/effect their lives. There is more to life than NASCAR, NBA, MTV, American Idol, drinking beer, fishing, working on your car, and browsing the web. This includes all us bloggers who spend our time reading other peoples posts.

This country was founded by men of great wisdom who designed a system of government that was representative of the people, IF THE PEOPLE PARTICIPATED AND STAYED INFORMED. As you can see by the turnouts at any primary and general election lately that is not happening. American has become disillusioned with our leaders and therefore we say WHY BOTHER? Unfortunately that is part of the problem. When we give up and give in our public servants, I hate the term politician because the connotations is one of deal making, can do as they please. It is now more than ever that we need to flood them with mail voicing our concerns about; immigration, crime, the educational system, corruption in our capital and anything else that comes to mind.

I have provided the links you need to contact your representatives, just remember the famous words of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, "Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country". Put your greed and self interests asided and think of what is best for the nation when you write your elected officials.

If they don't listen, write them again, and again, and again. If they still don't listen make sure you vote the sonofabitches out of office.

Apathty is the path by which tyrants gain control. Bit by bit they will nibble away at our God given rights, just look at how religion is becomming something that is not allowed, while they impose their twisted beliefs upon us.

It is up to us, remember the WE THE PEOPLE thingy? We, you, I, your next door neighbor, are the ones who must make sure that those put in power do what is right for this country. I cannot mail your officials for you, it is your job and your responisbility. If you don't do it, don't come crying to me when your taxes go up, they take your home away because of imminent domain, or they teach your kids some perverted form of education. I am only one voice that cannot be heard past my block. Together we can raise a roar that they will have to listen to.

That is the goal of this blog, to raise your awareness of things and motivate you into action. You don't have to agree with everything I say, just think about it and then decide for yourself. If it seems important to you, do something about it.

That is all I can ask. But as Patrick Henry once said, "Give me liberty or give me death".
